As we look back at the HashiCorp Ambassador program, the rearview mirror is full of inspiring memories created by our current Ambassadors along with the HashiCorp community and product-focused teams. In this post we’ll explain the ambassador program, recap some of those memories, and provide details on our yearly call for nominations and applications, which is now open.

»What Is a HashiCorp Ambassador?

At HashiCorp, we believe that an open source project’s strength comes from both code quality and the welcoming community and ecosystem built around it.

HashiCorp Ambassadors are a group of people committed to the spirit of open source. They actively share knowledge about HashiCorp tools through content creation, participation in local events, and productive, thoughtful feedback, while advocating for and adhering to the HashiCorp Principles.

We are proud that participants in this program share knowledge openly and broadly, benefiting the entire community by making our tools more accessible, and we look forward to increasing engagement and impact within our community and organization.

»2022 Reflections

2022 was a packed year, as Ambassadors engaged with their local and global communities, both online and in-person. They shared knowledge to enable others through podcasts, at conferences, and by creating preparation materials for our available HashiCorp certifications.

For the first time in the program’s history, we were able to gather in person, convening a small group at HashiConf Europe in Amsterdam in June. During this time we enjoyed a meal, freely shared ideas, and created connections with other community members, leaders and product teams.

Later in the year, we brought together a larger group for HashiConf Global. In Los Angeles, we were able to expand upon our previous meeting and host a full day with ambassadors getting a chance to talk directly with HashiCorp’s product and engineering leads to share ideas and product feedback. The busy day was both enlightening and valuable for everyone.

In both instances, HashiCorp Ambassadors reminded us of the three key reasons they were selected to participate in the group:

1. Sharing knowledge with one another
2. Meeting in small groups to mentor other attendees
3. Acting with grace and gratitude through the high energy, action-packed conference days

»Apply or Nominate Someone to Be a HashiCorp Ambassador

Have you, or someone you know, created content or organized events around HashiCorp tools? Has someone been particularly helpful in your learning or insightful with their feedback?

We are now accepting HashiCorp Ambassador nominations and applications from community members who have been active in 2022 to recognize them for sharing knowledge around HashiCorp tools. This work makes our community more vibrant and collaborative, and supports the health of the broader ecosystem.

Please reflect over the past year and consider those who have helped you on your journey with our tools and how they engaged with you. Please share those stories by submitting a nomination or application, including specific examples of how these potential HashiCorp Ambassadors engaged within the community by Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

We will review applications and nominations in early February, and plan to notify all submittors and nominees by email later in the month.
