DevOps Online
The UK’s data protection watchdog has recently ordered that Clearview AI delete all the data about UK residents following data breaches. Indeed, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has decided to take action against the controversial facial recognition company that uses technology to harvest photographs of people online and issue a £7.5m fine. The company has also received similar enforcement orders from privacy regulators. Although the company had recently stopped offering services in the UK, it is still using the personal data of UK residents collected without their knowledge to offer services to other countries. Hence, the UK watchdog has been monitoring the company and ordered that all data about UK residents be deleted. However, Clearview is protesting the fine and order by saying that its technology has helped law enforcement track down criminals and identify victims of crimes.
